KOSUN Excellent Drilling Mud System
An excellent drilling mud cleaning system is adopted to reduce the friction and stabilize borehole wall and the electric logging and trip success, decrease downhole accidents.However,hailed as the blood of the whole oil drilling system, the drilling fluid is an very expensive material.Besides, the high concentration of solids in drilling fluids will cause blowout and sticking which go against the drilling efficieny and exerts security risk.Usually, we use solids control equipments to remove the harmful particals.
The solids control equipments are always combined to be a complete oilfield drilling mud system where consists of four phases of solids control equipment, safety equipment, and other auxiliary equipment that are linked together via pipelines as well as mud tanks which are the mud carriers.Normally solids control system is consist of five stages, including mud tank, shale shaker, vacuum degasser, desander, desilter, centrifuge. The drilling mud shale shaker is used to separate the big solids with diameter above 75μm, and 45~74μm for desander, and 15~44μm for desilter. Sometimes desander & desilter are combined as high efficient mud cleaner. When air enters into the drilling fluids, vacuum degasser is used to separate the air. If no air in the mud, the degasser would work as a big agitator. All these equipments are mounted on the top of the mud tank. After separating the solids, the clean mud would be pumped into the borehole again.
The arrangement of each solids control equipment is sequenced by separation effects in descending order. The primary drilling fluids flow through diversion pipes into oilfield shale shaker, where its larger cuttings (d74μm) are separated and the rest flow into mud tank via screen frame. Then the vacuum degasser will suction it into the degasser tank for further gas-fluid separation when there are some gas bubbles in drilling fluids. Afterwards, it will be pumped into desander and desilter for more solids removal by the centrifugal force produced in cones.
Solids with diameter between 15-44 μm are to be taken out in desilter and later on, the treated drilling fluids will stream to the mud tank below decanter centrifuge through the pipelines above cones for the last purification. It is pumped into centrifuge by submersible slurry pump (screw pump) and its solids with diameter above 2μm will be plucked out by centrifugal force again All the tanks in the system are linked by built-in pipelines and may be used to contain any kind of drilling mud accordingly in any purification phase. Furthermore, they also work together with jet mud mixer for mud concoction.After separating the solids, the clean mud would be pumped into the borehole again.
